Tatuma Watanabe reconstructed his original film music for “ シミラーバットディファレント ” (Similar but different), “清澄”(Kiyosumi) and “ブランク”（Blank). The films were directed by the actor Shota Sometani who starred in the films "Himizu”.

Takuma studied composition and music technology at the Berkelee College of Music in the late 90's and has since been working with film music in Japan. In his work he explores combinations of electronic music and orchestral composition, utilizing a string ensemble founded by himself.

“When I added music in Sometani's films, most of all consisted of slow and sustained sounds, and when I listened to the music themselves, it sounded completely unrelated to the emotions arose from the films. “

In the process of working on the music for the three films, Takuma repeatedly deconstructed and reconstructed the soundtrack. And the result is that unique and unconventional ambient music was created.

本作『ブランク』は、渡邊琢磨が手掛けた、俳優・染谷将太監督による短編映画３作品『シミラーバットディファレント』（2013年）、『清澄』（2015年）、『ブランク』（2017年8月公開予定）のためのサウンドトラックを解体・再構築し、アーティストアルバムとして作り上げられた作品。

「染谷将太監督の映画に音をつけてみると、どれもこれも持続音が主体の緩慢な曲になったため、音楽単体で聴くと映画のエモーションとは全く無関係に思えた。それが切っ掛けで、これらの音素材を、アンビエント・ミュージック（環境音楽）として再構築して、まったりお酒を飲むときのBGMにしようという着想を得た。」(渡邊琢磨)

以降、3本の染谷将太監督作品の音楽に携わる過程で、サウンドトラックの解体→再構築、という作業を繰り返す。その結果、とてもユニークで奇想天外なアンビエント・ミュージックが展開される本作が誕生した。
